Lily Collins (“Mirror Mirror”) and Sam Claflin (“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire") will star in “Love Rosie” for Constantin Film.
Mister Smith Entertainment (MSE) will introduce the film to buyers at the European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin later this week.
Christian Ditter directs the film from a screenplay by Juliette Towhidi, which is based on the best-selling novel “Where Rainbows End” by Cecelia Ahern. Ahern’s second novel follows her bestseller turned box office hit, “P.S. I Love You.”
Constantin Film’s Robert Kulzer and Canyon Creek Films Simon Brooks will produce. Constantin Film’s Martin Moszkowicz will executive produce. Principal photography begins in May 2013.
Rosie Dunne and her best friend Alex take a leap of faith, both on life and on each other, when they decide to go to America together to attend University. But fate has other plans for Rosie who discovers that she is pregnant after a crazy night out with the most popular boy in school. She encourages Alex to go without her, hopeful that she’ll catch up with him eventually. Over the next twelve years, their lives change dramatically but the undeniable connection remains.
At the back of Rosie's mind is always the question, what if fortune had taken another turn and they were meant to be more than just good friends. When ultimately presented with the opportunity, will they gamble everything for the chance to be together?
Collins made her screen debut in “The Blind Side” where she portrayed the daughter of Leigh Anne Tuohy. In 2011, she starred in “Priest,” opposite Paul Bettany for Sony, followed by the action feature “Abduction,” starring opposite Taylor Lautner. Most recently she starred as Snow White in “Mirror, Mirror” with Julia Roberts.
Claflin is one of the U.K.’s most prominent young talents. On the big screen, he has starred in “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” and, last year, alongside Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth in the international box office hit “Snow White and the Huntsman.” Claflin will next be seen in horror film “The Quiet Ones,” and this November in “The Hunger Games Trilogy, Catching Fire” as Finnik Odair.
